I have promised to tell you what I eat in a day/week and my workouts for a very long time, and I kept waiting for a perfectly random regular week, but I have figured out that there is no such thing. There is always a party, a getaway, someone visiting, a birthday party, or something. So, let's begin…
September 3 rd
Sunday
Weekends are harder for me to fast, as there are lots of snacks for kids, pastries, crepes, and coffee shop stops.
The first thing I do when I wake up is have a few sips of water while making my coffee (well, actually, the very first thing I do is oil my face and spray hydrolat all over, but that's another story). I usually have three long Nespresso coffees before my workout. My workout typically consists of YouTube at home, a boxing class, personal training in the gym, or paddle. I stopped playing paddle during the summer as it was too hot for me and not enjoyable at all. So today, I've decided to go to a boxing class, which is a mix of boxing and cardio for 45 minutes. After that, when I got back home, I had one more coffee and one herbal tea before lunch.
On weekends, we usually eat out, and today we decided to go for tapas around 2 pm.
I had a glass of cava, tomato bread with Aioli, Spanish tortilla with truffles, and a green salad. I finished it with one espresso.
After that, around 4:30 pm, we walked to an old-school Spanish chocolatería, where we all had ice cream. I had mine and finished Zoe's too.
Back home around 6:30 pm, I found the last three crepes in the kitchen from that morning and had them with chocolate hazelnut vegan spread from Delicious Ella. After that, I had three herbal teas.
Monday
I was planning to do a boxing class at 8:30, but planning is a funny thing when you have children 😉. Zoe came to sleep in my bed last night, and by 8 am when it would be time for me to wake up, she was still snoring deliciously. So I canceled my boxing, waited for Zoe to wake up, made two lungo coffees, and did a Pamela Reif workout at home. These are the videos I did, my current favorite combo.
One more coffee, and then I made my way to my friend's house for a playdate since it's the last day of the school holiday here. Pretty much the entire day revolved around snacking with the kids on crisps, hummus, crackers, and rosé wine. On the way back home, I realized I hadn't had any protein and found a protein bar in my handbag, which I quickly consumed. When I got home, I found an almost empty fridge but was still hungry and wanted protein. I had some leftover brown rice scrambled with three eggs and a Coke Zero around 7:30 pm
Tuesday
It was the first day back at school for Lea, and adaptation week for Zoe was starting, so a very quick coffee in the morning before the school run. After Zoe's adaptation session, I went to the fresh fruit and vegetable market to buy food for the week. I love going to markets; I always have, and now I love taking the kids there as I find it gets them more excited to eat healthy food. I find they are so much more eager to eat food they picked themselves. I was also craving lots of veggies and wasn't sure what to cook yet, but I bought aubergines, peppers, carrots, onions, cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, and some fruits that my kids enjoy at the moment. It keeps varying, but at the moment, it's mandarins and nectarines. By the time I was finished, I had time to come back home for one more coffee and signed up for a boxing class at 2 pm. I don't like to exercise just after eating, and I always try to work out on an empty stomach; I feel better, and apparently, the effects are better? I'm not sure if that's true, but it works for me. After boxing, I went to pick up Lea at school. On the way back home, I was starving, and as most of the time, I had a protein bar with me, so I had one in the car. When we came back home, I had a spoon of peanut butter, and while I started to prepare tea, I was snacking on homemade chicken nuggets for the kids (I keep changing it, but this time it was chicken breast with garlic powder and a bit of flour, grilled in an air fryer). So for dinner, I decided to grill a bit of each veggie I bought today, except cucumber, in one large baking tray. I mixed it all with a little bit of olive oil and red pepper pesto I had already opened in the fridge and needed to be eaten ASAP. After 30 minutes of grilling, I added feta cheese cubes on top and grilled for another 10 minutes. In the meantime, I cooked some quinoa and boiled some eggs for 10 minutes
Once my tray cooled down a little bit, I had a bowl of lettuce mixed with some lemon and olive oil, with quinoa on top, some of my roasted veggie mix, and two boiled eggs. By the way, my portions are really big. I could really do with a glass of red wine, but I really enjoyed my cocktails this summer, so I want to keep it healthy on weekdays this month, so just Coke Zero for me. After dinner, I was craving something sweet, so I had three homemade almond butter chocolate chip cookies, and that was around 6:30pm.
Wednesday
One coffee before the school run, and two more around school while waiting for Zoe to finish her adaptation. By the time I got home at 1 pm, I was starving, but I really wanted to exercise, and since I love working out on an empty stomach, I resisted and had a coffee instead. I got my period this morning, so I wasn’t sure how the workout was going to go, but after one cardio video from Pamela, I realized cardio is not what my body needs today. So, I did the Slow Strength video, which is floor work only. It felt great, so I also did Madonna's arm workout. Straight after that, I had a Zoom call, so I didn’t have time to eat. After the Zoom call at 3 pm, I was starving again and couldn’t wait to eat something, so I had a protein bar and made myself hot chocolate, which was delicious. For the first time, I've tried this protein milk, and I added hot chocolate with no sugar or almost no sugar from the same protein shop where I buy my bars. It was so good; I am sure I will be having one of these every day. Two hours later, I was craving something again, something like chips, but I didn’t want to eat chips in front of the kids, as I wanted them to have a fruit as a snack. So, I had a banana with peanut butter myself too. About one hour later, I had dinner. Since it's this time of the month and this is when our body needs iron the most, I decided to make beef Bolognese sauce, which I was simmering all day. I like my meat tomato sauces most when they cooked for hours. I've also added a big bunch of celery, finely chopped, and 8 carrots. We need to sneak these veggies wherever we can, mammas :).
I had mine Bolognese on a bed of lettuce with whole-grain pasta, cheese, and again two hard-boiled eggs. It looks like I am eating eggs a lot, but this is my relationship with eggs. I love them, and when I remember them, I will eat them every day with everything for a week or so, then I forget and don't eat them at all. A similar story with avocados and lots of other things, I guess. I also had small Coke Zero with this and finished around 6pm
Thursday
Two black coffees before drop-off, then straight to my nail appointment. I didn't get back home until 2 pm. Yes, in the salon I go to, they take forever, but they are the best. So, I am ready to suck it up once a month. By the time I got home, I really didn't feel like working out, but of course, coffee helped. I did a Pamela workout at home and tried some new videos for me.
The ones I did:
(I dont think I will attempt the last one again for a long time, its a killer )
After this, of course, I was starving and had a craving for some kind of dairy, so I had a large piece of Polish quark cheese (poltlusty twarog) mixed with vanilla yogurt (serek homogenizowany). I added blueberries, banana, pumpkin seeds, and peanut butter on top. Straight after, I made this delicious protein hot chocolate again. Then I started to prepare dinner and roasted veggies, very similar to what I did on Monday, with the only difference being that I used up all the carrots for the Bolognese, so I added mushrooms instead. No feta this time, as on the side, I had a grilled halloumi and fresh fennel salad with lots of lemon, and wholemeal penne with basil pesto. I finished by 6pm.
Friday
This morning, I was a little bit limited on time, so I had two black long coffees while getting the kids ready for school, and then I did three Pamela workout videos.
I decided to go for cardio since most of the day I will spend sitting still at my hairdresser's, so I need to move my body at least in the morning. I wanted to repeat these two new workouts for me from yesterday, with a little weights, and after that, I still kept my little velcro weights on for the last video. I am kind of mad with myself that I didn't think of this before?! I think from now on, I will keep these for all of my workouts to make them more efficient.
These are the weights I have. I bought them when I was pregnant. When I was pregnant, I stopped all exercises for no other reason than the fact that I was just scared. The only workouts I was doing were very long walks in the park every day, with these weights on my arms
I was in the hairdresser's chair until 5 pm, and this weekend, you will see or may have already seen my transformation and why it took so long. At the hairdresser's, I had two coffees and one protein bar, and after the hairdresser's, I had to do one more thing and got home around 6 pm. On the way home, I found some protein chocolate biscuits in my bag, which I demolished instantly. When I got home, I inhaled anything I could find: leftovers from my kids' breakfast - Greek yogurt with blueberries, then I had a banana with lots of peanut butter, then some of my kids' dinner - scrambled eggs and broccoli, and leftovers from their yesterday's dinner - aubergine burgers. Then I was in a sweet mood but still wanted to end it with something nice, so I made a decaf latte with protein milk. That was around 7pm
Saturday
This weekend is a big celebration for us as my oldest girl is turning four on Sunday. We flew our stepdaughter and her boyfriend, who is super close with Lea, from Paris as a surprise, and we have lots of family outings. I didn't have time for any workout as we wanted to leave the house at 9:30 to go to the beach, so I had only two black coffees until our lunch on the beach at my favorite restaurant at 1 pm. I started with Coke Zero and bread with aioli and loved it. My main course was chicken salad, but what you need to know about chicken salad in Mallorca, at least in most places I have been to, is that it's not super healthy, but it's delicious. It's actually a large piece of pan-fried breast, similar to Milanese, on top of lettuce, with tomatoes and lots of Parmesan shavings with balsamic vinegar dressing. Yum! Also, around the main course, I had one Hugo cocktail. I didn't have dessert but had some peanut crisps a couple of hours later (Curly). When we got home, I had a Coke Zero and started to prepare to go out for dinner. Of course, whenever anyone is visiting us in Mallorca, they want to have tapas, so that's what we did that night. I had 2 glasses of cava, guacamole, some pinchos with aubergine, Spanish tortilla omelette, and chicken salad. I didn't order dessert but had 80% of my husband's. We finished around 10 pm, and I had a herbal tea at home
Sunday
Again, no time to work out, as I needed to pick up Lea's birthday cake this morning, so black coffees until our lunch reservation at 1 pm. I started lunch with aperitifo, Hugo, bread, aioli, and olives. I kept snacking on the kids' fish and chicken, has green asparagus with romanesco sauce. With my main course, salad I had another Hugo. After this, we had a chocolate Beauty and the Beast-themed cake and went for a little swim. We had to leave beach earlier than usual as Chloe had to go back to the airport, but I wanted the celebrations to keep going, so we had a little pizza party with my kids and husband at home. We had pizzas, crisps, and Coke Zero. Then I was craving something sweet, so I had one Polish waffle bar (Princessa) and a protein hot chocolate, and that was almost 8 pm.
Tomorrow, I will go do boxing in the morning and massage, as that’s exactly what my body needs after these couple days of salt, sugar and alcohol.
I hope you enjoy, this non typical, typical week diary ;)
